If books are your bag, our friends at the National Centre for Writing have you covered with these author-led events. Co-programmed especially for Norwich Science Festival audiences, there's something for every kind of reader.
Why not join sci-fi authors Chris Farnell and Stefan Mohamed as they explore the strange and compelling realm of apocalyptic fiction in It's the End of the World (but not as we know it). They'll take you on a tour of some of the strangest end-of-the-world scenarios in fiction, science and history. (Tue 16 Feb, 7pm).
Fancy getting creative with science? Join TOAST’s Daisy Henwood for Relative: TOAST Family Workshop, a science-inspired writing session for the whole family. Pool your favourite science facts, tackle STEMM-inspired writing prompts and work together to create the ultimate family poem. No previous science or poetry experience needed - just come along to play, chat and create! (Wed 17 Feb, 10.30am).
Dr Danny Bate, linguist and bestselling author of Why Q Needs U, will explore the fascinating history and science of writing things down in A History of Our Letters and How We Use Them. Discover where our letters come from, why the English language uses them in such strange ways, and some of the hidden mechanisms of the alphabet. (Thu 18 Feb, 7pm).
Looking for something for younger science fans? Bring your favourite soft toy along to Bears vs Gravity! with award-winning science author Isabel Thomas. Inspired by her picture book Emily versus Gravity, this interactive workshop combines storytelling, science and a little engineering as you discover how gravity keeps our paws on the ground.
