Discover one of the most important hideouts in history

In 1933 Norfolk gave shelter to a German Jewish refugee fleeing from the Nazis. His name was Albert Einstein! He lived in hiding in a hut near Cromer, before travelling to Southampton - via London - where he got a boat to America. He never returned to Europe again.

Step back in time and uncover this extraordinary chapter of local history at The Book Hive’s Festival Bookshop exhibition, celebrating Einstein’s unexpected connection to Norfolk. Alongside the exhibition, 'Einstein' himself will be making special appearances - violin in hand - to share his journey, reflect on his powerful speech at the Albert Hall, and explore the lessons this story still holds for us today.

Performances will take place outside The Forum, at 11am, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm.

This event is presented by the team from The Book Hive and is sponsored by UEA Faculty of Arts and Humanities, as part of its Jewish History and Heritage initiative.

Einstein's 'hut' is kindly supplied by Crane Garden Buildings.
