Not sure where to start?

With so many exciting events at Norwich Science Festival 2025, it can be tricky to know where to begin! To help you make the most of your week, our team have put together their top event picks to guide you through the programme...

Your Saturday Night Covered

The psychology and science of dance and the wonders of the world’s oceans will be taking centre stage, as we welcome BAFTA-winning wildlife expert Steve Backshall MBE and the legendary Dame Darcey Bussell to Norwich!

On the first day of the Festival, Steve Backshall will share stories from his career, and a love-letter to the world’s oceans, in a perfect evening out for nature fans.

And don’t miss the finale! Join Dame Darcey Bussell and Dr Peter Lovatt for a fabulous evening exploring the art and science of dance at Norwich Theatre Royal.

Something for the Grown-ups

For the true crime fans amongst us, Professor Anne Coxon will explore how forensic science has developed alongside the soaring interest in crime stories, and how technology is helping to solve the crimes of yesterday, today and tomorrow!

Science of Self returns for a new lunchtime series! Break up your day and explore how influence impacts our lives, dive into the science of social connection and discover how we can best navigate stress in this series of fascinating talks.

Join award-winning comedian Pravanya Pillay as an exciting panel of doctors, scientists, and A.I. specialists compete for the title of Best Future Medicine. Which treatment of tomorrow will come out on top?

For the Kids

Brand-new for 2025, The Festival is taking over Sir Isaac Newton Sixth Form as we transform the school into a Pop-Up Workshop Hub for families! Become a soil scientist, discover the science behind rainbows and help light up Spark City in three hands-on workshops for little scientists.

Always a Festival favourite – step inside the Explorer Dome to discover brand-new worlds. The mobile planetarium is back with a variety of entertaining and interactive shows, including The Wonder of Space and Disgusting Digestion.

Events for all the family

Back by popular demand, Dr Jess French and Prof Ben Garrod go head-to-head in another epic round of Animal Top Trumps. This time, it’s Little Vs. Large as the tiniest critters go up against the world’s mightiest beast in a battle of brains, brawn and survival skills.

Join Dr Duncan Gaskin and the team from MIND’s Rest Cafe for an afternoon tea with a science twist. Explore the science of how we experience food – and why we choose to eat what we do – as you tuck into a range of sweet and savoury treats!

And geneticist and author, Dr Adam Rutherford takes us on a tour of a million years of human history in Where Are You Really From? Meet kings and queens, Pharaohs and Vikings, and discover just how far and wide humans have migrated around the world.
