Unmissable family shows

Dr Nikhil Mistry returns to Norwich Science Festival with a brand-new burst of brilliant science demos you can try at home! He’ll be kicking off our opening weekend with an explosive, fun-filled show for the whole family at Epic Studios. Keep your leftover cola and mints handy, we might just have an idea for that!

We’re thrilled to welcome GBBO Finalist Dr Josh Smalley for a pancake-flipping family show, where he’ll uncover the science behind the perfect stack using powerful microscopy, live cooking, and a spectacular liquid-nitrogen finale!

One for the dinosaur fans - NSF Patron Prof Ben Garrod is teaming up with the show-stopping Dinomania experience for the ultimate prehistoric face-off! Packed with fun and facts, this spectacular show lets you step into a world of life-sized walking dinosaurs, adorable baby dinos and jaw-dropping fossils, all brought to life with state-of-the-art puppetry and animatronics.

Just for the grown-ups

We’re staying up late and opening The Explorium after dark for an adults-only takeover - our first-ever Lates event! Join us for the ultimate birthday celebration as we toast 10 years of Norwich Science Festival with a trio of fascinating talks, hands-on science activities, a dazzling bubble show, live music and a drink from the bar!

For the romantics among us, join NHS consultant cardiologist and comedian Dr Rohin Francis on Valentine’s Day as he dives into the drama of the human heart. From mending broken hearts (literally) to dodging cardiac catastrophe and learning how to protect your own, it’s a Valentine’s night out like no other.

Or why not treat yourself to a flavour-packed evening of kombucha and cheese tasting? Enjoy live demonstrations and plenty of foodie inspiration as the award-winning Oichi team guides you through the fascinating science of natural fermentation at Yalm Foodhall.

Hands-on science fun

No trip to Norwich Science Festival is complete without visiting The Explorium - and this year, the Quiet Hour is back. Enjoy hands-on science in The Forum’s Atrium every day of the Festival. The Quiet Hour runs from 9.30am–10.30am, offering a controlled capacity and a more relaxed environment for visitors who may benefit from a calmer start to the day. Capacity is limited, so tickets must be pre-booked.

Discover how biology and engineering combine in a hands-on workshop with ZooLab. Get up close with snakes, lizards, tarantulas and more, take part in fun experiments and learn how these amazing animals inspire cutting-edge technology – from gecko sticky tape to snake venom in medication.

Don’t miss The Lab at Sir Isaac Newton Sixth Form from Mon 16 Feb to Sat 21 Feb! We’ll be transforming the space into a hub of immersive science workshops for children aged 5–10. Solve a muddy forensic mystery, uncover the science behind rainbows and help light up Spark City in an electrifying electricity-themed workshop!

Ready to plan your Festival visit? Our full programme of events is available to book online at norwichsciencefestival.co.uk/whats-on

To make sure you don’t miss out, we recommend booking early – even our free events need tickets and spot are limited. Our events take place all across the city, and some experiences may need to be booked directly with the venue, so check each listing for all the details.

We can’t wait to see you at next year’s Festival!
