Super Science Events this October Half Term!

2023, Norwich Science Festival

Norwich Science Festival returns in February!

The October Half Term is almost upon us, and so we've gathered a selection of brilliant events from our partners and friends across Norfolk that will give you that all-important STEM fix.

Whether its herrings, Lego, or steam trains that float your boat, here's a few events that you can look forward to - all with a science twist!

The joy of the outdoors!

Discover which nocturnal animals lurk in the dark in the Creatures of the Night trail at Pensthorpe, from 21 - 29 October, plus pumpkin carving and flamingo talks!

Learn about the tiny life forms that inhabit Norfolk's newest nature reserve at NWT Sweet Briar Marshes, Norwich on 21 October.

Discover the story of woodlands in Norfolk at Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse's From Axes to Acorns exhibition, which closes on 29 October! Plus tractor trailer rides and object handling (dates vary). Don't miss the museum's Relaxed Early Bird Opening on 21 October, if you prefer a calmer start to your visit.

Events for all the family

Try your hand at Stop Motion with the Millennium Library in Norwich city centre on 25 October, or enjoy a family drop-in Lego session on 23 October. Both events offered by Norfolk Libraries, completely free!

Pop into Chantry Place, Norwich on 24, 25 and 28 October - where the RSPB will be on hand with their nature pod and an autumnal display! Plus a free family Halloween themed trail throughout the week.

Hop aboard the Bure Valley Steam Railway in Alysham as kids go free from 21 to 29 October!

Enjoy sensory stories with Norwich Theatre Stage Two, suitable for neurodiverse and disabled young people aged 7-11, and their grown ups, on 24 October.

Something a little different?

Celebrate all things herring at Time and Tide Museum's Herring Day in Great Yarmouth on 26 October - meet the museum's fishergirl and get crafty making your own fishy decoration.

Boogie on down to the Big Fish Little Fish Family Rave at Epic Studios on 28 October - featuring stilt walking, giant balloons and bubble machines.

Create your own lumen print using photographic negatives with Norwich Castle, and join in with activities inspired by themes of light and shade, from 22-26 and 28 October.

And don't forget - Norwich Science Festival is back in February Half Term next year, so get the dates in your diary: Saturday 17- Saturday 24 February 2024!
