Norfolk & Suffolk Tourism Awards 2020 finalist
Awards, 2019

One of Norwich’s youngest festivals has been announced today as finalists in the Norfolk & Suffolk Tourism Awards 2020 for not one, but two categories.

The 2018 Norwich Science Festival – organised by The Forum, Norwich – is a finalist for Family Event and Experience of the Year, and Marketing Campaign of the Year.

The Awards celebrate Norfolk and Suffolk’s hospitality and events and is the biggest night of the year for the region’s brilliant tourism sector.

Norwich Science Festival is an annual festival giving families the opportunity to explore the wonders of the universe, meet the scientists whose research has changed our world and debate some big questions with some big-thinkers. The Festival is celebration of the ground-breaking scientific research associated with Norwich, and is a partnership initiative coordinated by The Forum, involving 70+ organisations from across the region.

Natalie Bailey, Norwich Science Festival Producer, said:

“We’re thrilled to be a finalist in the Family Event category for our 2018 Norwich Science Festival. This is a brilliant recognition of how far the Festival has come its first few years, and it’s all thanks to our wonderful partners, funders, sponsors, contributors and the wider Forum team, who all come together to make it such a success.”

Jan Robertson, Norwich Science Festival Marketing Manager, said:

“We’re delighted to be a finalist for our 2018 marketing campaign. We worked with the wider Forum team, our partners and DesignPod to raise awareness of this engaging and fun Festival. It’s fantastic to be shortlisted for the award, and to acknowledge the collaborative, multi-channel marketing campaign which has helped grow the Festival immensely in its first few years and reach new audiences.”

The Festival saw over 98,700 visits in 2018 and a headline talk from Chris Packham, and this year racked up over 137,000 visits for the 2019 event. The 2018 Festival was made possible thanks to sponsorship from Anglian Water, Developing Experts, University Technical College Norfolk, Vattenfall, Briar Chemicals and KLM Engineering UK.

Norwich Science Festival will return in October half-term 2020.
