Norwich Science Festival, 2024, Family

Are you ready for a week filled with wonder and discovery this half term?

There’s plenty for kids and grown-ups to get stuck into at Norwich Science Festival – with an array of family-friendly events taking place across the week! Here’s a selection of some of our top picks for families to enjoy together:

Perfect for young nature enthusiasts, presenter and conservationist Dan Rouse will show you the different places to look for wildlife in our gardens – from slug-eating hedgehogs to colourful varieties of birds! (Sat 17 Feb, 2pm)

Together you’ll explore your strengths and values, and the things that make you, you! Expect lots of interaction, opportunities to move around a little, and a chance to log your thoughts on paper in this neurodivergent, family friendly workshop from author Louise Gooding. (Tue 20 Feb, 1pm and 3pm)

Embark on an entertaining expedition into the world of dinosaurs with author and presenter Jon Chase. Delve deep into the science behind the Jurassic World movie franchise, where geneticists resurrect dinosaurs. Uncover the facts behind the films in this family show that promises both education and entertainment. (Thu 22 Feb, 2pm)

Go full throttle into the science behind racing cars in this family stage show from TV engineer and pyrotechnician, Fran Scott! Help create the perfect eco-racing car, and enjoy plenty of amazing demonstrations along the way! (Fri 23 Feb, 11am and 2pm).

Join Dr Jess French and Professor Ben Garrod in an energetic game of Animal Top Trumps, back at by popular demand! Compare skeletons, teeth, behaviours, and lifestyles in a fierce battle between living modern-day animals and dinosaurs. Who would win in a fight – a rhino or a T-Rex? It's up to you to decide! (Sat 24 Feb, 3pm)

And many more! You can view all family friendly events at this year’s Festival here.
