In just over four weeks, we’ll be bringing science to life with a jam-packed week of family-friendly events taking place across the city.
This year’s Festival promises to be bigger and better than ever, offering something for the whole family - from the littlest scientists to curious minds of all ages.
Whether you're looking for a day full of adventure, learning, or simply some family fun, make your half term unforgettable with a trip to Norwich Science Festival.
Our exciting programme is packed with opportunities to discover the wonders of science and there’s loads of fun for both kids and grown-ups too!
Kick start your Festival visit with the Brilliant Bodies show (Sat 15 Feb, 10am). You’ll be amazed at all the weird and wonderful things our bodies can do as we explore what makes us truly unique – from the oddities of our vision to the ways we can play tricks on our senses.
Think you could solve a puzzle quicker than a dolphin? Pit your wits against the world’s most incredible creatures in Amazing Animals (Mon 17 Feb, 2pm). The whole family can get involved as you help to complete real life intelligence challenges and learn more about the diversity of life on Earth.
For fans of the paranormal, Ghosts in the Machines (Tue 18 Feb, 1pm and 3pm) explores how chemistry and physics can affect our perception as we turn out the lights and take a (not too scary) look at how ghost hunting really works!
From hagfish that use sickening slime to see off predators, to sea cucumbers that fight with their bum (yes, really!) - get ready to discover some of the ocean’s oddest wildlife in The Ugly Animals Society: Weird Life Underwater (Thu 20 Feb, 10am).
Join bestselling author Adam Rutherford as he takes us on an adventure through human history in Where Are You Really From? (Thu 20 Feb, 3pm). You’ll meet kings and queens, Pharaohs and Vikings as Adam dives into our incredible evolution and explores what makes us human.
Discover the amazing Science of TikTok (Fri 21 Feb, 2pm) with award-winning science communicator Jamie Gallagher. Get ready to challenge your knowledge and see if you can separate science fact from science fiction as we put TikTok to the test!
Spark a love for learning with our free STEMM Careers event: In the Picture with Radiology (Sun 16 Feb, 1pm). Suitable for ages 12 and up, you can explore the world of radiology, from X-rays to MRI scans, and even try your hand at performing an ultrasound on a simulator!
Want to understand ADHD better? Join the father-daughter duo behind the ADHD Science Podcast, Max and Tess Davie for an authentic and unfiltered look at neurodiversity in ADHD Unpacked (Tue 18 Feb, 12pm, ages 12+).
Ocean pollution is a huge problem, but maths might just have the answer. Discover how exciting maths can be in solving real-world problems and uncover the surprising connection between equations and environmental conservation, in Where Maths Meets the Ocean (Wed 19 Feb, 7pm, ages 12+).
It’s the buzzword on everyone’s lips right now, but how much do you really know about A.I.? Deepfakes: Creating Identities with A.I. (Thu 20 Feb, 5.30pm, ages 12+) takes you behind the science of this evolving technology, as you learn how to create a completely fake person using online tools.
Enjoy an action-packed family day out this half term at The Explorium! Back with a brand-new look, The Forum’s Atrium will be transformed into three interactive zones, offering free activities and changing exhibitors every day of the Festival.
Get stuck into hands-on science experiences like drawing robots, flight simulators, and creative craft - perfect for all ages! (Sat 15–Sat 22 Feb, 10am–4pm).
Think you’ve got what it takes to break a World Record? Take a visit to The Forum on Sunday 16 Feb and see if you can Take on the Oobleck Challenge! We’re inviting participants aged 16 and over to run across our pool of non-Newtonian fluid - if you go too slow you may sink into a gooey mixture of cornstarch and water!
The future of food needs you! Meet Sally, along with her travelling suitcases, in this fun, family-friendly play! Food Scientists to the Rescue (Sat 15–Sat 22 Feb, 11am and 2pm) explores the science of food, from its impact on the planet to how our diet affects climate change.
Prepare to be wowed by the explosive show Boom, Bang, Whoosh! (Tue 18 Feb, 9.30am, 2pm, and 5pm) outside The Forum on Millennium Plain. This high-energy show dives into the science of combustion with colourful flames, rocketing bottles and propane bubbles!
Discover the Magnificent Materials that make up Norwich Cathedral with a day of crafts and activities! (Wed 19 Feb, 10am–2pm). Enjoy hands-on-workshops, demonstrations from heritage experts, and the chance to have a go at something new!
And finally, Animal Dissection Live is back for 2025! Taking place on the final day of the Festival (Sat 22 Feb, 11am–3pm) join evolutionary biologist Prof Ben Garrod and zoologist Dr Jess French for a live scientific dissection as they reveal the fascinating inner workings of an animal.
