Bugs and Beasts take over city park - with Jess French
Norwich Science Festival takes over Waterloo Park in Norwich, with amazing entertainment for all the family!
Norwich Science Festival brings Bugs and Beasts to Waterloo Park in Norwich, on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 July – a free family-fun weekend about bugs, insects, things that creep and crawl, and beasts big and small!
This free drop-in event, sponsored by Pensthorpe, features a special guest appearance from CBeebies star, vet and author Jess French, as well as fun bee-themed performers, minibeast handling, bug-inspired crafting, face painting, dinosaur trail and much more.
Jess French, author, vet and presenter, said: “I’m excited about coming to the Bugs and Beasts event, and introducing everyone to the fascinating world of minibeasts. Come along to get a closer look at a host of incredible creatures as well as learning a little more about their weird and wonderful lives!”
Nature-related activities and demos are provided by the RSPB, Zoological Society of East Anglia, Norfolk Wildlife Trust, Dodo & Dinosaur, Redwings Horse Sanctuary, Norfolk Museums Service, BugzUK, UEA, Paramecium Press, Bookbugs and Dragon Tales, Pensthorpe, Master Composters, Charli Vince, and Norfolk Library & Information Service.
Natalie Douglas, Pensthorpe Marketing Manager, said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Norwich Science Festival for this free family event to kick off the summer. There will be a huge variety of activities on offer across the weekend from some amazing organisations and an opportunity for families to learn more about the natural world.”
The weekend is perfect for families with primary school aged children and takes place between 11am–4pm each day.
As well as the free activities, there are paid workshops: Busy Bees, for ages 3-5 from Fossils & Fireworks, and Beasts of the Future Wild creative writing workshop for ages 15+ from UEA lecturers.
