The Science of Play

Playing and Learning from the Start of Life

LEGO® Professor of Play, Prof Paul Ramchandari, gives a taster of some of the science which shows how important it is for parents/carers and children to play together, right from the start of life.

Find out how early play is essential in supporting children’s development – not just their social development, but their cognitive, behavioural and emotional development – but is often overlooked, because it is seen as just fun.

Paul Ramchandani is LEGO Professor of Play in Education, Development and Learning at Cambridge University, UK. He leads a team researching play and how it influences children’s development at the PEDAL Research Centre, University of Cambridge.
