An exciting day of hands-on science for reception classes – a chance for reception students to turn into Mini Professors! Each school will take part in both Chemical Reactions and Solar System activities.
Delve into the intriguing world of how different compounds and elements react together, and find out how they can change into different substances and the fascinating and sometimes fizzy results! Children will be wowed by the instantaneous effects of mixing two chemicals together using a range of household products.
Our Solar System
Discover the planets, with Mini Professors’ scale model of our solar system, which shows children the size of the planets in relation to each other and the distances between them. The children play an interactive part in recreating this model. Each child will produce their very own constellation card to take home.
Mini Professors sessions involve a brief introduction, two experiments, a short bespoke video, a topic-specific story book shared with the class and a final summary. ‘Mini Professors for Schools’ is a science programme that has been designed specifically for early years and Key Stage 1 children. We aim to make science fun and enjoyable for these age ranges and we are passionate about science and aim to inspire a generation. Our theme tune’s opening line is ‘Science is all around us’ and this reflects the ethos of our lessons. We feel that all children have a great thirst for learning from a young age and therefore, should be given every opportunity to develop and learn new skills and wonder at the world around them.
