Pint of Science

Norwich Science Festival Special

This is an event from the 2019 edition

Join Pint of Science for an evening of facts and fun. We’ll be talking monkeys with esteemed TV scientist and evolutionary biologist Professor Ben Garrod, who will chair an exciting open discussion about the past, present and possible future of evolution. We’ll also hear from UEA’s Professor Van Oosterhout, an evolutionary geneticist and expert in revolutionary tech. The evening will end with a short quiz and a chance to win some Pint of Science prizes. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic refreshments will be provided by Boudicca Brewing Co, local producers of vegan beers

Professor Ben Garrod is an esteemed TV scientist and senior academic in Evolutionary Biology at the University of East Anglia. His scientific career began with his doctoral thesis on ‘Primates of the Caribbean’ and since, his work has taken him all over the world. In addition to presenting many successful TV shows, he has also written a successful series of children’s books entitled ‘So You Think You Know About Dinosaurs?’.

Sophie Prosolek is a science communicator currently studying for her PhD at the Quadram Institute in Norwich. Sophie has coordinated Pint of Science and NSF events locally for the past three years and enjoys combining her scientific knowledge with her passion for creative industry.
