An exciting, hands-on look at the world of nature, with CBeebies presenter Jess French and Mini Professors. Each school takes part in both workshops per session.
Minibeasts with Jess French
Get hands-on with some of the world’s most weird and wonderful minibeasts with Jess French from CBeebies’ Minibeast Adventure.
We take a closer look at a host of incredible creatures as well as learning a little more about their weird and wonderful lives.
Dr Jess French is a vet, zoologist, author and TV presenter. She loves everything to do with the natural world and loves teaching children about all creatures great and small.
Spiders vs Butterflies
What’s the difference between a spider and a butterfly? How many legs does a butterfly have, and can a spider fly?!
In this workshop from Mini Professors, we’ll look at the difference between arachnids and insects, and make our own ants and spiders with modelling clay. We then use a Venn diagram to help categorise these differences.
Mini Professors sessions involve a brief introduction, two experiments, a short bespoke video, a topic-specific story book shared with the class and a final summary. ‘Mini Professors for Schools’ is a science programme that has been designed specifically for early years and Key Stage 1 children. We aim to make science fun and enjoyable for these age ranges and we are passionate about science and aim to inspire a generation. Our theme tune’s opening line is ‘Science is all around us’ and this reflects the ethos of our lessons. We feel that all children have a great thirst for learning from a young age and therefore, should be given every opportunity to develop and learn new skills and wonder at the world around them.
